The University Fund Limburg /SWOL is a charitable foundation established to support scientific research and education at Maastricht University. The Fund is a recognised public benefit organisation (PBO) and is listed in the register of PBO organisations published on the website of the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration. This status has certain consequences for the Fund itself and for anyone making a donation to the University Fund Limburg /SWOL (see: tax benefits). PBOs are under obligation to make their annual report and accounts (including policy plans, Executive Board annual reports and financial statements) available and accessible to the public. To learn more, please refer to ‘Annual reports‘.
At the University Fund Limburg, we see an increased interest from alumni and private parties from the U.S. to contribute financially to societal research and education at Maastricht University. To encourage this, we have established a collaboration with the Netherlands-America Foundation (NAF), which seeks to strengthen relations between the Netherlands and the U.S. Through our own Maastricht University Fund at the NAF, you donate from the US to your alma mater in a tax-friendly way. If you have any questions, please contact us.
Transnational Giving Europe
It is also fiscally attractive for benefactors from Belgium and Germany to make donations towards science and education at Maastricht University. The University Fund Limburg/SWOL has become affiliated with Transnational Giving Europe (TGE). By making the amount payable to the TGE-affiliated foundation in their own country, donors enjoy the tax benefits and the donated amount is given in full to the University Fund Limburg/ SWOL.
