This year, the annual Duck Race is scheduled to take place on Sunday 13 May. This year, the Refugee Project Maastricht will be one of the main beneficiaries of this charity event, which will be held in the back garden of Maastricht University.
Every rubber ducky that bobs through the Jeker on Mother’s Day will mean a €5 donation to the charitable cause. The University Fund Limburg, which is organising the campaign together with Jules Maastricht, has set a goal for itself of selling at least 4,000 ducks and thereby securing a sum of €20,000. Such enormous proceeds would allow students and Maastricht residents to, over the next five years, organise activities aimed at helping war refugees rediscover their sense of safety and self-worth.
