The GRESB Research Fund raises money to fund research and education at Maastricht University (UM) related to sustainability in the real-estate sector (homes, office buildings and other real estate in the Netherlands and abroad). Key areas of attention are health, climate risks and the financial and economic implications of energy efficiency.
For example, with the purchase of 280 sensors that are now installed in Limburg primary schools, the GRESB Research Fund co-finances high-profile research into the impact of air quality on learning. It also supports three PhD candidates, as well as the new chair in Real Estate Finance at the UM School of Business and Economics. Professor Nils Kok has been appointed to the chair, which focuses on sustainable real estate.
